James Weir

James Weir understands homes and properties from the inside-out, thanks to a wealth of experience which also helps give him an edge as a real estate professional. Add in a first-hand understanding of our market, a strong work ethic and a philosophy that places quality and service to his clients above all.
James’ story begins in many ways with his service to our country. While serving in the 82nd Airborne Division in the early 2000s, he completed tours as an artillery soldier in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the National Guard, he was an infantry soldier and a construction equipment mechanic.
“After my military service, I worked in construction and eventually started my own business called Straight Level and Square,” he says. “The company worked with real estate agents to complete all kinds of tasks, including repair requests, due diligence requests, specialization in finished carpentry, and total rehabs.”
“I worked on the contractor’s side of the business for years and have always thought I would do well on the selling end,” says James, who is an agent with the national award-winning office of Coldwell Banker Advantage in Fayetteville, N.C. You might say a passion for the business runs in the family. His mother, Wendy Carroll, is a top producer with the firm, and real estate has long been a frequent topic around the dinner table.

James enjoys working with home buyers and sellers, including military service members and their families. Other areas of expertise include investment properties, first-time buyers, and second homes.
When not working, James is committed to family life. Together, he and his wife, Charla Rae Weir, a schoolteacher, have four children, along with various dogs, fish, ducks and chickens, and one rooster. A man of many talents, James builds custom slab furniture and river tables, specializing in Epoxy.
He is dedicated to giving back to his community, including volunteering with his family’s church to feed the homeless. He also has contributed his skills to help build a house for homeless Veterans.
